Channels 12 and 19 each debuted new newscast sets 10 days ago, but Channel 19 won the race to broadcast in high definition. WXIX-TV became the second station here with HDTV news on Election Day, 14 months after WCPO-TV (Channel 9). "We got e-mails from viewers the next morning. People thought it looked great," says Steve Ackermann, news director. A few bugs are being worked out, including restoring the morning news ticker. Being second with local HDTV is a coup for Fox 19, which didn't start local news until 15 years ago.
