Lenovo today launched IdeaCentre brand with the introduction of IdeaCentre K210 desktop computer. The IdeaCentre takes its inspiration from the company's very own IdeaPad line up. And as far as designing is concerned, you can certainly see some similarities. So what's special about this machine? Well, its the first desktop computer to feature face recognition technology.

Its one of the best concept product I've ever seen. The Sync Desktop is the product of wild (and cool) imagination of Gareth Battensby. The desk features a typical PC, a fold-away widescreen monitor, mouse, keyboard, a built in USB hub, scanner, webcam, easy-to-access DVD unit, and plenty of storage space. No way its going to be manufactured commercially, so just drool over these images.

Walt Disney Co. reported sales and profit for the fiscal second quarter Tuesday that exceeded expectations, a sign that advertising spending and theme park attendance is holding up in a tough economy. Shares of Disney rose almost 3% in after-hours trading. For the quarter ended March 29, Disney reported revenue of $8.71 billion, led by strong growth in its movie and television network businesses as well as its theme parks unit. Sales rose 10% from a year ago and beat consensus estimates of $8.47 billion according to analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial.

As of tonight NVIDIA's got one more notch to add to that bed post: the GeForce 9600 GSO, which is a little more on the cheap date end of the spectrum. The first of the card-makers to launch their 9600 GSO is EVGA, with a 650MHz, 384MB / 1900MHz DDR3, PCI Express 2.0 ditty (e-GeForce 9600GSO Superclocked 384MB), as well as an even lower end 550MHz, 384MB / 1600MHz version (e-GeForce 9600GSO 384MB).

Our Apple tipsters haven't let us down before, so we know that this hot-off-the press news is likely fact and not fiction. Stay tuned, because next week (most likely Tuesday) Apple will be introducing new iMacs to their product line-up! The new and improved iMacs are said to be at the same price point as the current models and will probably receive a speed bump as well as a hard-drive increase.

This cute little box does not have a name yet, but it has some obvious qualities: it is 80% smaller then a classic mini-tower and consumes 70% less energy. It is packaged and shipped in recyclable cardboard. I could use one of these as a file server or even a source-control server. I bet that it is quiet too.

For the indecisive among us who need a bit more than two but just can't wrap their wallets around four, AMD's out to show you exactly what three cores of computing magic can do. Make no mistake, we've been waiting quite some time for these buggers to ship, but they've finally made it into the capable hands of reviewers web-wide. The general consensus seems to be that the tri-core processors offer no real surprises: it performs better than a dual-core AMD CPU, yet worse than a quad-core AMD CPU. Needless to say, it tends to lag even further behind an Intel quad-core.

Apple has rolled out a new graphics upgrade kit that retails for $279, bringing the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (1st Generation) for folks who are still rocking to a Mac Pro. Guess previous generation Mac Pro owners don't have to fork out that much dough to get a separate PC or a new Mac Pro with this relatively affordable video upgrade path. Well, there aren't too many hot games for the Mac platform in the first place, so I would most definitely prefer to have a GeForce card sitting in my Windows-powered PC instead.

HP’s m-series computers are designed for mainstream home users with rigorous multimedia demands, such as watching HD movies, recording TV, and maybe even some light gaming. HP calls the m9200t an “entertainment powerhouse,” and though we probably wouldn’t go that far, it’s safe to say it’s a well-built machine with more than enough power to satisfy the majority of home users. Its biggest flaw is that it includes typical big-box bloatware and toolbars, and is a bit generic in terms of its design and software build.

While Shuttle's KPC most certainly wasn't aimed at the enthusiast in the crowd, its newest XPC definitely is. The XPC G5 6801M gets going with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ processor, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 320GB hard drive, LG's GGC-H20L Blu-ray / HD DVD combo drive, ATI's 256MB HD 3450 graphics card, a DVB-T tuner, 25-in-1 multicard reader and 7.1-channel audio output. Moreover, you'll find gigabit Ethernet, FireWire, a slew of USB / eSATA ports, DVI / VGA out (DVI-HDMI adapter thrown in) and a bundled remote to make your life even easier. If you're digging where this is going, you can latch on to one of these boxes for €1,091 ($1,727), and if you've turned a cold shoulder to HD DVD, a BD-only unit can be had for €167 ($264) less.

Le LG X-S900 is a 19” desktop replacement that costs $1740. LG chose to cut down on the processing power and the hard drive capacity in favor of more memory and decent graphics performance. It is in my opinion a great choice. Memory is the first thing that *everyone* should add (especially if you have only 1GB or less) and 3GB is about what a Windows 32 can handle anyways. Better graphics arguably has a much larger impact than slightly better computing power (for a given price). It’s a pity that the screen resolution is so low (WXGA), 1920x1080 would have been so much better.
