Even the manliest of men need to admit that they need food to survive. Preferably a nice juicy steak with a hot baked potato, but of course a slice of strawberry cheesecake would do. The point is that you can stock up on every tool in the catalog, but a nice pair of eating utensils is always an investment worth making.

The already impressive Roku streaming box will expand its services beyond Netflix's VOD adding new "big name" content providers in the near future. While the existing Netflix offerings are pretty impressive, the addition of some of the free on-demand TV options could set Roku apart from Apple TV and Vudu. Roku is taking the coy approach for now, but rumors of a flash-enabled browser to stream Hulu (which now streams at 480p resolution), Youtube and the various individual network sites are both plausible and awesome.

How many sprinkler systems are actually nice to look at? Well, should the Aurora concept sprinkler system actually make it off the manufacturing line, it will definitely make the grade as an aesthetically pleasing safety device. It merges both LED lights as well as a sprinkler system, offering you adequate light during times of emergency. This leads me to question why current emergency systems don’t do that, offering separate components instead?

Freddie Yauner has unveiled the prototype for his Highest Popping Toaster in the World. This gleaming white rocket launcher is going for a new world record for "highest toaster pop." (He's already set the record at 2m 60cm, but that was just the height of his ceiling.) The Highest Popping Toaster in the World, aka "The Moaster", took 3 months to build and employs a high-pressure CO2 gas system and mechanical ram.

Home renovation shows are a regular feature on the airwaves, filling the insatiable demand among homeowners to make their living space unique. For most people that means a mix of colours, new furniture and carefully chosen artwork. Asus's Eee PC 1000H is the least Eee-like Eee yet—big, pricey ($649) and it has a regular ol' platter hard drive. Laptop Mag says the extra screen real estate makes it the most productive yet, too, even though the colors don't pop as much as the Wind. And the keyboard: "To say it’s an improvement over the cramped keyboard found on earlier Eee PCs is an understatement."

Along with the extreme weather which has plagued much of the world population over the last few seasons comes extreme consequences. Many people are left without electricity or running water, which of course, leads to some pretty awful circumstances. More and more the word of disaster preparation and awareness is being spread. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, as has been proven from disasters from the past.

The straight-out-of sci-fi flick workstation desk is one the most interesting working-desk I have seen in long time. And the best thing? It isn't a concept product and will be officially unveiled in July, so start saving from now if you're really interested. So how do you sit into this strange thing? Well, "at the press of a button, the Emperor’s tail section (the large articulated arm that holds the monitors).

On the off chance you are looking to save a few bucks here and there on your power bill, LG has announced the Flatron W2252TE—a display that they claim is the "world's most energy efficient." Apparently, the monitor uses 45% (or around 40W) less power than traditional models. Interestingly enough, the 22-inch Flatron manages to score a 1680 x 1050 resolution, 2ms response time, 170 degree viewing angle, 250cd/m2 brightness and a surprising 10,000:1 contrast ratio despite the drop in power consumption.

When you have limited space in your car or just want to camp as lightly as possible, combination products are key. Anything that can do more than one purpose is going to rank a bit higher on the wishlist. This tent called Respite not only functions as a tent but as a hammock as well. Which would be nice for those that want to relax after a long day of hiking. It would probably feel much better than laying back on the ground.
