Emaar Properties said on Monday it plans to build one of the largest fountains in the world as the centrepiece of its Downtown Burj Dubai project. Arabian Business reveals what the real estate giant has in store. The fountains, which has yet to be named, will be capable of shooting water over 150 metres into the air - the height of a 50-storey building - and stretch over 275 metres - the length of two football fields.

Ever wondered what the mute friend in your office tells his best friend? Wanted to learn sign language but couldn't find the time to join a training session. A group of researchers Carnegie Mellon University have come up with the Hand Talk Glove. Sensors in the glove pick up gestures and transmit the data wirelessly via Bluetooth to a cell phone which runs a Text to Speech software. The sensor data are converted first into text and then to voice output. A person not knowledgeable in Sign language can listen.

It appears that Perpetual Kid, a site designed to “entertain your inner child”, has lived up to their slogan with the Lego speakers for the iPod and iPhone. These Lego speakers have a connector that is fully compatible with the iPod Classic, Nano, and Mini. I can only assume that the sound comes out of those big plus signs that you see on the front. What you don’t see are the volume controls that are apparently “camouflaged” by design.

Have you ever been so mad to wake up in the morning that you smash your alarm clock? Hopefully you don’t do that every day, or that would be one expensive habit. However, you could purchase the Throw Alarm Clock, a special type of alarm clock which actually requires you to bounce or throw it in order to switch it off. As you can see, the Throw Alarm Clock is a cushioned ball with an LCD display. It also has all the features of an alarm clock such as a time, date, as well as an hourly chime and the aforementioned alarm.

The Kohler Fountainhead VibrAcoustic Bathtub adds a whole new dimension to your bathtub, throwing in sound vibration, chromatherapy, and music to enrich your soaking experience. After all, research has proven that sound vibration, music, and chromatherapy works wonders when it comes to relieving one of stress while keeping the mind at ease. The only thing missing is a complimentary rubber duckie to keep me company during my relaxing baths in a Kohler Fountainhead VibrAcoustic Bathtub.

It has been a while since we have reported on Tanita’s products. Tanita probably makes the best weighing scales in the world, but one of their products, the BC558 is more of a “Segmental Body Composition Monitor” than a scale.
So what exactly is a Segmental Body Composition Monitor? It is a way of taking individual measurements for each body segment, including the trunk, right arm, left arm, right leg, and left leg.

The Manodo display from Sweden will help you keep the earth green, while giving you information overload with facts on how much power consumption your home currently uses, as well as other uncomfortable facts, like the number of pounds of CO2 emissions from your recent hot bath. Yo Manodo, TMI.
The Manodo project is in its pilot stage right now in several Swedish cities, nagging apartment dwellers with a ton of information. It must be like living with your mother.

Rain gauges tend not to be the most technical of devices. However, this latest one ads a bit more geeky-ness to your garden. The Digital Rain Gauge has been created and it’s wireless too (but not in a wi-fi type of way). What it allows you to do is track the rain which is then displayed on a small LCD screen which can be read up to 10 feet away. The only reason it gets the “wireless” added to it’s name is due to it being powered by an AA battery. Surely it should have been named a “Battery Powered Digital Rain Gauge”.

We’ve seen countless wirelessly-enabled gadgets and devices, so it’s really no surprise that someone would come up with a wireless solution that zaps foul aromas so you don’t have to go near them. Air Aroma’s Arologic claims to be the world’s first wireless scenting device and it will allow you to control a network of scent diffusers remotely.
Inside of multiple “scent zones,” scenters can “activate a scent, vary the intensity or even change the aroma.” So, what we have here is basically a high-tech perfume dispenser.

For a while now, shower manufacturers have been trying to one up each other with models that feature more jets and more functions than the competition. But I think the battle for luxury shower supremacy may have a new front runner with the Pure Satin Steam Shower. It features a standard over head shower plus an adjustable shower on a slide rail for positioning at the appropriate height. Adjustable back massage jets. A steam module with time and temperature settings.

Universal Remote Control has apparently put out new details and pricing about an upcoming wireless keypad-style remote. It is called the KP-900 and you’ll find it pricing around $500.
The KP-900 is attached to a wall bracket so you can easily find it. It is powered by four AAA batteries, according to Universal Remote Control, and functions in both the IR and RF control arenas. The LCD is backlit as well.

We have seen the design of this classic spaceship as a source of inspiration for a chandelier, a telephone and a putter. Soon you will also be able to get the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 as a cool looking bottle opener.
If you are a trekkie that likes a beer now and again then this is a perfect gift for you. Styled on the original Enterprise (no not the NX-01, the NCC-1701), not even Kirk or Picard had a bottle opener this cool, although, Lieutenant Wharfs was pretty impressive but that’s not really what a bat’leth should be used for!

The Phonofone is a pretty unique device to have in your home these days, simply by virtue of its retro looks as well as the ability to run just fine without any power. It relies on passive amplification that instantly transforms any personal audio player and earbuds into a self-described "sculptural audio console". Looks (and sounds) good, doesn't it? Just be quick as this ceramic speaker sees a limited run of just 200 pieces in black.

Have you ever been kept up at night because your bedroom is too warm? I’ve always thought that it was better to have it cold than warm at night. My logic is simple; there are only so many clothes that can be taken off, however, there’s no limit to the amount of blankets you can toss on a bed. That’s why I’d love to get my hands on a BedFan
This strange little device simply sucks air from under your bed and blasts it between your sheets. Provided that you don’t have too many covers stacked on top of yourself, it should keep a steady breeze on you throughout the night. It’ll set you back $100 bucks, however, anything that helps me sleep better at night is well worth it.
