Retro iPod alarm clock
Posted on Mar 10 2007 5:19 AM by Xtrmius

Retro iPod alarm clock has an integrated system with the iPod itself so that instead of the loud, noisy, and such a vexing ringing sound, it will actually play your favorite play list, song, or whatever you feel like listening to instead of the annoying bells. The sound will swiftly come out of the carefully hidden 360° 3W omni speakers underneath the “fake” bells. Not only that, but it actually even has a snooze option if you feel like the song is kind of bugging you a bit too.

Probably not many will be with me on this one, but I think a good “Moon River” alarm with this dock or a alarm “clock” may be nice. After all, it only costs £39.95!

A Folding Bicycle
Posted on Mar 09 2007 10:00 AM by Xtrmius
Filed Under: Transportation ,

While thinking about the bike ride there is always one important detail, which is the bicycle of course. Is it heavy? Light? Big or small? Easy to store it somewhere? Does it provide a good riddance?

With the name of the bicycle in question – A-Bike Folding Bicycle – some of those questions already get answered. Yes, the bicycle is small and easy to store because it can fold up and have its final compact state like you can see on this image. What is the folded size you ask? Just 67cm x 30cm x 16cm. On the other hand comes the heavy and light problem, which for this bike isn’t a problem at all. Weighting only 5.6Kg (or 12.6 lbs) thanks to the lightweight material used - think heat-treated aluminiumand high strength reinforced glass fibre.

Sony VGX XL3
Posted on Mar 08 2007 9:19 AM by Xtrmius

Sony announced the VGX-XL3 Home Theater PC, which not only impresses with good looks but also with nice features - except for my obvious dislike of Blu-Ray compared to HD-DVD. Speaking of which, the VGX-XL3 doesn’t only offer a Blu-Ray drive but a Blu-Ray burner! Apart from Blu-Ray, the VGX-XL3 also offers a huge 500GB of storage, a wireless keyboard for controlling it and HDMI and 1394 for connectivity. And if that’s not enough, the nice horizontal case also manages to make space for a CableCard slot.

Vulcan FlipStart UMPC

Filed Under: Laptops , Misc. Devices ,

The UMPC has a QWERTY keyboard, 5.6” LCD with 1024 x 600 screen resolution, a Pentium M CPU (seriously), 30 GB HDD and 512MB of RAM. Those specs pretty much suck and relegate this machine to web surfing (for as long as you can stand to scroll around on that tiny screen) and emailing. The lid of the FlipStart has an additional screen and there is a built-in EVDO antenna and touch pad for mousing. Pricing for all these underwhelming components in the tiny case is $1999. I say go for a real computer.Read the rest of this entry »

Safe computing with data breaker

Filed Under: Desktops , Networking ,

What the Data Breaker system does, is to simply disconnect the computer from the Internet, if it detects that the computer has been idles for a set period of time. The idea being that if there is no broadband signal, then there is no possible way of your computer being hacked or any of the personal details being taken from your computer while it is idle and possibly while you are away from home.

Basically what your $40 dollars is paying for is peace of mind, the data breaker is plugged into the home electrical system and then the computer is connected to the plug and that is it, your done and your equipment is safe from outside attack.
